I am so excited to have you visit me here and for giving me the chance to introduce myself! My name is Sarah Nickolson-Kemper and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). I am also a certified middle school science and social studies teacher. After spending almost 10 years in the classroom, I decided to go back to follow my dream and I earned my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University. I began practicing in Stephenville in 2017 and am now located in Weatherford.
I'm married and have 3 children ages 22, 8, and 3. I've lived in Texas for about 20 years, but I am originally from Arkansas. I love animals and have a ton of chickens, some guinea fowl, cats, bunnies, and a very spoiled Irish Wolfhound and Presa Dane.
Why I chose this career.....
I love helping people realize the strengths they have within themselves. I work through an understanding that we are all part of many systems (family, work, community, culture, etc) and as such, there are many contributing factors to our daily experiences in life. We also influence these various systems with our own thoughts, behaviors, and experiences.
One perk of having been both a teacher and now a therapist is a passion for helping parents and students advocate and navigate within the school system's SPED departments. Working with families with kids that are suspected to have or do have educational concerns such as ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia are very important to me. My own 8 year old has ADHD so I appreciate the hardships parents can sometimes face when learning how to best help their child both inside and outside of the classroom.
